Happy Monday, and welcome to this morning’s garden in saturated early light. So lovely…
Every year, for too many for me to remember, I have planted this stock tank with potato vine, assorted blooming spillers (black petunias here), and something tall and attention-grabbing in the back. This year, there is a grass in the middle, made almost entirely invisible by the thrilling height of milkweed. It may very well be my favorite combination. So cheerful! It’s grown so ridiculously tall, we can observe it from the kitchen window, and the wild assortment of browsers as they sip nectar: hummingbirds mostly, bees, wasps, hornets, and butterflies in competition.

The goldenrod is just starting to bloom.
The fountain, humble looking, but as thrilling as the milkweed for the ability to sooth and take us “stream side.” I never grow tired of it.
The view from the bench, above and below, with Juniper keeping her eye on the comings and goings of birds and squirrels. I believe we had baby nuthatches this morning, pure delight.
Have a wonderful week…
